Fire at the Fort
Wow, this is something that does not happen everyday, but it doesn't mean that it is not out there everyday. An East African political professor had his office carpet and his door set on fire last Sunday evening and is said to be intentional. A swastika was delivered in his mail box earlier in the week before the fire. The police are not sure whether the two incidents are linked or not. Yeah right! How hard is it to put two and two together, especially in an incident like this. I feel sorry for the Professor this happened to, especially cause he is not from here. People are stupid, we are all human with our own stories and obviously they are too shallow to see that.
I agree that this story needed to be heard, so that it can be talked about. Unfortunately racism is out there, but I would not let it get you down. Be proud of who you are no matter what color you are, rise above it. It's a waste classifying people , yet we do it everyday all the time. Very sad. Why would someone do this to another human being? If you don't like another person because of their race, religion or whatever other reason you may have then don't move to that community. Life must be pretty bad if they think that destroying another's property will make things right in the world. I hope the firebug is found and brought to justice.
That is the craziest thing ever. It's a shame. Things have not changed at all. Hate is everywhere and it will never end until people learn the a common most simple rule, RESPECT! I fear that nothing will ever change, very sad to even think that. Why would someone in 2008 still feel that this kind of behavior is ok, why? I just dont get it, I never will.
whoa...this really happened here?
i didn't about it at all. This is crazy. MAN why don't people have respect for each other...man i don't what to say.
Respect realy matters and we must cultivate it thruoghoutThe Common School should promote a sense of the distinctive worth of all human beings. How is the respect thus owed to every individual to be properly understood? This familiar question is explored by discussing `lookism', a form of discrimination on the grounds of appearance. The treatment is located within a wider analysis of stereotyping. Ultimately stereotyping overlooks persons as sources of actions with moral significance and as potential owners of moral virtues. The Common School could profitably approach traditionally emotive issues such as racism indirectly by helping students to understand in some depth how `lookist' attitudes deny agency. It could then encourage students to apply these insights to traditional forms of discrimination.
grrrr this make me angry. some sad pathetic person decided to burn a teachers door for being black? the person who did should just fess up becuase he is going to get caught sooner or later now that their offering 6500 dollars for any information. i really hope its not a local becuase i know people in durango arent that cruel. racism is bad!!
It really bums me out that something like that took place up at the Fort. I guess I am naive, or have more faith in our generation/population, but jees, what year is this? 1965? I don't think so. Everyone deserves to be respected and treated like anyone else would want to be treated. I hope that those effers get caught PERIOD!
Damn! I'm definitely gonna have to look more into this. I didn't even hear about it, this is the first I've seen anything about it. Jeez. Let's build! We need positivity all around. I'm through with all this negativity that fills this world. CRAZY. This is the exact reason why I'm voting for Obama. A mulit-racial man in office? Kids are going to grow up seeing that. That's big. It's the next step in abolishing this hatred. Word.
