Racim at Fort Lewis College

Fire at the Fort
Wow, this is something that does not happen everyday, but it doesn't mean that it is not out there everyday. An East African political professor had his office carpet and his door set on fire last Sunday evening and is said to be intentional. A swastika was delivered in his mail box earlier in the week before the fire. The police are not sure whether the two incidents are linked or not. Yeah right! How hard is it to put two and two together, especially in an incident like this. I feel sorry for the Professor this happened to, especially cause he is not from here. People are stupid, we are all human with our own stories and obviously they are too shallow to see that.
I agree that this story needed to be heard, so that it can be talked about. Unfortunately racism is out there, but I would not let it get you down. Be proud of who you are no matter what color you are, rise above it. It's a waste classifying people , yet we do it everyday all the time. Very sad. MCCAIN 'S FINANCIAL CONCERN

McCain prediction of financial bill

McCain thinks that a financial bill will be passed today, by the House Of Representatives to help our financial status that our country is in. He says it will help our economy from getting deeper in to debt and after it is passed we can start the process of cleaning up the mess we're in. McCain states he is the candidate for this job. He understands how people are afraid of losing their jobs and homes and wants to do something about it. I don't follow McCain much, but I commend him for caring about our economy and wanting to do something about it sooner than later. I am a democrat and don't care for Palin very much, but am on the same page as McCain and his hopes of what this bill may bring.

MPAA

In Mass Communications, Professor Sotosky showed the class a documentary about the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) called This film is not yet rated. It was how the board of MPAA are allowed to rate movies without anyone ever knowing who they are. They tried to keep their identities private, so they would not be influenced by the outside people. A private investigator investigated the MPAA and was able to figure out who the MPAA board members are. They happen to be parents, whose children are grown and people who have rated movies for longer than they should be allowed.
This documentary sure did surprise me! I cannot believe that a movie rating depends solely on the MPAA and to make it worse, they don't even let their identities be known. I don't agree with this association, I think that those who are having their movie rated should have the right to know whose rating it. Maybe this documentary will help more people to realize the unfairness
of the MPAA, so that more people can get on board to try and fight to change this.

John McCain's latest crazy, brilliant, desperate campaign tactic. - By John Dickerson - Slate Magazine

Here is the link of the article I read. It is very interesting to see MCCain try and back down John McCain's latest crazy, brilliant, desperate campaign tactic. - By John Dickerson - Slate Magazine

Until recently, I did not know much about this campaign. I knew a little about Obama, but nothing about MCCain. I felt that if I voted for Obama I would be being unfair because I did not know about MCCain. Now that MCCain has made Palin his VP, I have heard a lot about Palin and I think that who she is stands a lot for who MCcain is. I have not heard very many great things about Palin and I worry that if MCCain's health goes out (because he is older) and Palin is in charge of our country, we are in trouble. With all of the controversy about Palin, I could see why MCCain would be wanting to get out of Friday Sept. 26 debate. What are you thoughts about MCCain as well as Palin?

Should retouching be banned?

This video film blows me away. I never knew to what extent pictures in magazines have been altered. 99.9% of pictures are altered and not everyone knows this. With the controversy of whether retouching should be banned, I don't think that it should. If retouching exists, I believe that there needs to be some kind of icon saying so. This gives people a heads up when they compare themselves to the imperfect people. Not anyone is perfect, we are all human. My little sisters are 16 and 17. They have been dieting for about 2-3 years. They eat very healthy, but very little. I think it is ok to watch how you are eating, but to diet is a bit crazy. They are tiny girls, who don't need to diet at all. I think that this is what society, as well as the teen magazines that they read are part responsible for my sister's actions. Even if you worked as hard as you could to look perfect, it is almost impossible. The magazines are giving out false hope to all it's viewers and something has to take place to show everyone that these pictures have been retouched. What do you think?
