Should retouching be banned?

This video film blows me away. I never knew to what extent pictures in magazines have been altered. 99.9% of pictures are altered and not everyone knows this. With the controversy of whether retouching should be banned, I don't think that it should. If retouching exists, I believe that there needs to be some kind of icon saying so. This gives people a heads up when they compare themselves to the imperfect people. Not anyone is perfect, we are all human. My little sisters are 16 and 17. They have been dieting for about 2-3 years. They eat very healthy, but very little. I think it is ok to watch how you are eating, but to diet is a bit crazy. They are tiny girls, who don't need to diet at all. I think that this is what society, as well as the teen magazines that they read are part responsible for my sister's actions. Even if you worked as hard as you could to look perfect, it is almost impossible. The magazines are giving out false hope to all it's viewers and something has to take place to show everyone that these pictures have been retouched. What do you think?

Hooneslty i told agree with you. This photoshop thing is crazy. And making young girls want to look like the models when really...what they are looking at is most likely fake. I just think its crazy to do this.

I don't think photoshop should be banned, but i definately agree that there should be some sort of disclaimer explaining to the extent the photo has been altered. My sisters are 11 and 8. My 8 year old sister won't eat much because she's afraid of getting fat. She's the smallest thing you've ever seen and she has a six pack and rippling biceps. It makes me sad that my sisters are growing up thinking they've got to be skinny to be beautiful.

Ya retouching should be banned! Out of all the other crap they ban these days, i'm sure retouching is as harmful as anything, and its just not necessary at all in my opinion. Why can't these people just be real? I mean they're already gonna be finding the most beautiful girls with the best makeup artists and most helpful lighting, why cant that be enough?
